TITLE: Illuminate JOY (2017)

ARTIST: Abby Kamen

MEDIUM: Oil on canvas. 16 x 20”

STORY: In a session with Amy (my medium) one of my main guides, Archangel Raziel, took my energy to a dimension referred to as the  “house of knowledge.” Raziel is the Angel of Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism). His name in Hebrew means “Secret of God.” Taking the religious connotations out of it, apparently this entity knows the secrets to the universe and they are presumably housed herein. Yep, pretty overwhelming.

Don’t get too excited, I am not privy to this information. But what Raziel has guided me to share with you is this painting. It is inspired by my favorite Scott Mutter poster and related quote: “A culture and what it produces is made possible and is reflective of the knowledge that underlies it.” The poster has been traveling with me since 1991 and lives in my office. Daily it reminds me we are what we know. Sometimes that produces great things, sometimes it does not.

I’m sure it is no accident that I was working on this painting when #MeToo went viral. Finally the issue of sexual harassment was being addressed. That was a real breakthrough for humanity on all accounts of justice.

A small victory in a world that remains ruled by misogyny, greed, and corruption.

Raziel gave me these powerful words on your behalf. It’s time for us to do better with our knowledge.

Knowledge is power, wisdom is what makes it sacred. Joy is what releases true enlightenment.
